What is a Microbubble?
Our lead product ST001, relies on microbubbles to safely and effectively deliver cancer therapies to targeted tumours, increasing the efficacy of treatment.
Microbubbles are tiny gas filled spheres which strongly reflect ultrasound waves, this makes them extremely well suited to ultrasound imaging and they’ve been safely used for this purpose for more than 25 years now.
Over the last 14 years the scientists at SonoTarg have been researching the use of microbubbles for targeted drug delivery where microbubbles are used to carry a drug then ultrasound is used to burst the bubbles wherever the drug needs to be delivered, for example at the location of a tumor
