SonoTarg named regional winner at InterTradeIreland contest

SonoTarg Ltd have been named regional winner of the ‘Best Early Stage’ category at the 2020 InterTradeIreland Seedcorn Investor Readiness Competition.

SonoTarg Ltd are through to the all-island final of InterTradeIreland’s Seedcorn Investor Readiness Competition 2020, having won the Northern Ireland regional heat of the contest.

SonoTarg Ltd was established in October 2018 to develop a targeted therapy for treatment of solid cancer tumours by exploiting microbubbles and ultrasonic energy, a treatment which is more effective and less toxic than conventional chemotherapy.

The Seedcorn contest mirrors the real-life investment process. As well as a substantial cash prize fund, participants can secure expert feedback on their business plans and pitches, improve their investor readiness and gain exposure to investors, all while boosting their firm’s profile.

On being named regional winner of the Seedcorn awards, Professor John Callan, said:

“We are delighted to win ‘Best Early stage’ company at the Northern Ireland regional final and progress to the next stage of the competition, were we will compete for the overall Seedcorn title.“

“Having demonstrated the effectiveness of SonoTarg in a range of pre-clinical tumour models, our next step is to test the technology in a first-in-human clinical trial.“

“The advice obtained throughout the Seedcorn competition will be very beneficial when engaging with investors to raise the funding needed to complete this next phase of SonoTarg’s development.“

“We look forward to attending the all-island final at the end of the month, to compete for the overall prize which would be a real boost for SonoTarg as a company.”
